Dr Thomas Hanna is a UK and New Zealand trained General, HPB (hepatobiliary and pancreatic) and Transplant Surgeon. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Aberdeen and completed his general, HPB and transplant surgical training in Plymouth, Liverpool, London and Auckland.

Tom has also completed a PGCE teaching qualification, an MSc in Healthcare Leadership and a PhD in Pancreatic Cancer, reflecting his strong interest in both education and research.

He is an experienced General Surgeon with a particular interest in liver, kidney and pancreas transplantation, and also consults at the New Zealand Liver Transplant Unit, Auckland City Hospital.

Outside of medicine, Tom is passionate about sport and the outdoors. He has represented New Zealand in surf boat rowing as part of the Oar Blacks team and enjoys fishing, surfing, and motorcycling. He also treasures time with his wife and four sons, often coaching them in rugby and surfing.
