About Ormiston Hospital
We know that you will want access to as much information about Ormiston Hospital as possible when referring a patient. Rest assured that we put patient care and safety above all else. Below are some of the key points about our services and team:
- We work with some of the best surgeons across the region and can assure you that you will be referring your patients to highly qualified and experienced medical practitioners.
- Our patient satisfaction survey is offered to every patient who passes through our doors. We currently have an average NPS of 98 and have a stringent process in place to follow up and remedy any issues or concerns reported.
- We are a proud member of the New Zealand Private Hospital Association and utilise the association’s considerable influence on the private health sector.
- Ormiston Hospital is an independently owned Private Surgical Hospital and is part of the Southern Cross joint venture scheme, whereby Southern Cross has a shareholding in the ownership of the hospital, along with other independent individuals and groups.
How to Refer a Patient
Our referrals process depends on the type of procedure:
Surgical Procedure: Ormiston Hospital & Healthcare does not accept or process direct referrals for surgical patients. Send your referral directly to the specialist’s private clinic via the Specialist Referrals Hub. Some specialists consult from the Ormiston Specialist Centre, if referring there, use reception@ormistonspecialists.co.nz.
Endoscopy Procedure: Referrals for procedures such as colonoscopy and gastroscopy can be made via the Specialists Referrals Hub, by emailing endoscopy@ormistonhospital.co.nz, or by completing our Endoscopy Referral Form online.

GP Education & CME Evenings
Ormiston Hospital runs a regular programme of RNZCGP-endorsed CME evenings, bringing together leading specialists to share practical, evidence based updates relevant to primary care. Sessions are open to GPs, specialists, nurses and allied health professionals, and most carry CME points.
Beyond the clinical content, our CME evenings are also a chance to connect with the specialists you refer to and get a closer look at what we offer at Ormiston.
