Growing Leadership from Within

At Ormiston Hospital, investing in our people is a big part of how we continue to grow and evolve as an organisation. One of the ways we support this is by regularly sending team members to leadership development programmes through Icing Training.

Most recently, a group of our team completed the Foundation Leadership Programme – a course designed to build confidence, capability and practical leadership skills for those stepping into or developing within leadership roles.

The programme focuses on real-world application, giving participants the tools to lead conversations, support their teams, and navigate the day-to-day challenges that come with leadership. It’s not just about theory, but about building skills that can be applied immediately back in the workplace.

For our team, this kind of development plays an important role in strengthening how we work together, support one another, and ultimately deliver the best possible care for our patients.

Supporting growth at every level

We’re committed to creating clear pathways for growth across the hospital, and programmes like this help support that in a meaningful way. Whether someone is new to leadership or continuing to build on existing experience, having access to structured learning and external perspectives adds real value.

Just as importantly, it creates space for reflection – something that can be hard to prioritise in a busy healthcare environment!

A valued partnership

Our long-standing relationship with Icing Training continues to be an important part of this journey. Their team shared with us:

“Ormiston Hospital has been a valued supporter of the Icing Training Programmes for many years.

Their participants are consistently highly engaged in the learning and bring a wealth of experience, insight, and knowledge to every programme. It is always a pleasure to work alongside them as we support the growth of their leadership capability across different levels of the organisation.

One of the things that stands out most about the Ormiston team is the strong support they receive from their leaders throughout the programmes. This commitment makes a meaningful difference to how confidently participants apply their learning back into the workplace and ultimately strengthens the impact of the development experience.

We truly value our relationship with Ormiston Hospital and are grateful for the opportunity to partner with them in making a positive difference for their people.”

Bringing it back to the team

One of the most important parts of any development programme is what happens next. As participants return to their teams, they bring with them new perspectives, practical tools, and renewed confidence in their leadership.

That ripple effect is where the real impact lies – strengthening teams, supporting colleagues, and continuing to build a positive and collaborative culture across the hospital.
