Protecting ourselves from Winter viruses

PLEASE assist us to protect the patients, staff and visitors at Ormiston Hospital.

You can assist by controlling the spread of the winter respiratory illnesses which  include Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).

Due to the increased rates of RSV in the community at present, we ask that children under the age of 10 years old are not brought in to visit our hospital. This is In line with other hospital’s in our region and is to help protect our patients and staff from illness.

RSV is a very serious and infectious respiratory virus that can cause significant illness in the very young or elderly. We ask at this time that you:

–          Please do not visit our hospital or attend an appointment if you have cold or flu symptoms

–          Please do not bring children under 10 years to visit at this time

–          These restrictions do not extend to our paediatric patients, we continue to admit asymptomatic children for surgery.

This is a temporary measure and we have taken this action in response to the growing concern in our community and to prevent the spread of all illnesses.

We appreciate your understanding and continuing support to help us protect our community and whanau.
