Congratulations to our Q2 Value Award Winners!

We were delighted to wrap up the last of 2023 celebrating our Q2 Value Award winners. Just as we saw with our Q1 nominations, we received a lot of nominations (30!) so it was tough to select just four worthy team members to be recognised for this quarter.

A quick refresher: every quarter we ask the Ormiston Hospital to nominate a colleague they believe brings to life our values:

  • Passion in our people
  • Courage to change
  • Caring with empathy
  • Excellence in what we do

Please join us in celebrating last quarter’s fabulous Ormiston Hospital Value Award winners!

Nepia Bovill Green – winner of the Passion in our people value

“Nepia has, over time and time again, exhibited the value of passion for our people. He, in his role, provides outstanding customer service. Additionally, and most importantly, he brings a positive attitude to work and adapts to working in many environments. He is kind, respectful and takes pride in his work and shows genuine concern for his colleagues. Thank you, Nepia, for your ongoing support and contribution to our organisation.”

Rachel Glover – winner of the Courage to change value

“Rachel has shown real courage over the last 9 months with change to the catering services. With the implementation of our food services with Nourish, she has been instrumental in developing ways to ensure the patients receive their meals hot and fresh – even down to perfecting the toast to ensure it’s warm and crunchy. She makes sure that all patients get the best experience with their meals and has also had input with the details of the new menu design. With all this change, Rachel continues to look at ways to improve the already outstanding service she provides.”

Michael Orineo – winner of the Caring with empathy value

“Following on from the previous nomination for Michael, he has again received regular appreciative feedback from patients regarding his caring, gentle and informative manner. This is especially evident when he is admitting a patient who is nervous about their procedures. He puts them at ease as soon as they arrive. During the procedure, he continually communicates to the patient in a calm, quiet manner keeping them informed and relaxed. Michael injects just the right amount of humor into situations with patients to help them have a wee laugh, which always makes people feel more relaxed. We appreciate Michael’s caring communication and practice of all our endoscopy patients. He is also caring of his fellow staff, ensuring they are supported and OK.

Roma Serrano – winner of the Excellence in what we do value

“Roma always strives to exceed expectations and go the extra mile. During a difficult time for, Roma has stepped up and literally went the extra mile. She stepped up into the CRN role making sure to deliver a high standard of care to the patient, and VP’s. She came in early, stayed late and worked extra shifts to cover the department, making sure all the equipment was organised for the VP’s, checking in on me, making sure that I do not worry about anything at work and working hard with her other colleagues to get the work done in a timely manner.

Roma ensured our teams have the best skill mix to provide an optimal service. She is truly an asset to Ormiston Hospital; a good colleague and a great friend, always giving 101% of herself and striving for excellence in whatever she does.”
