Ormiston Hospital provides free car parking for visitors, friends, family and whanau.

We have a day room/lounge available for patients, visitors, family and whanau that is private and comfortable for you to use.

Ward visiting times are 11am – 8pm 7 days a week.  Visiting outside of these hours is by prior arrangement with the senior nurse.  Simply call us on 09 250 1157 to speak to a member of the ward nursing team to discuss any specific visiting requirements outside of normal hours.

Going Home

Going home for day- surgery patients will depend on your admission time and surgery time.  Your nurse will be able to give you estimated discharge times so that you are able to give your support person a time to accompany you home after surgery.  However it is important to know that these times are estimates only. 

You will be given special instructions before you go home that you will need following your treatment. If you should require any pain relief or further medication a prescription will be provided for you before you are discharged.

Ormiston hospital advises all patients who have had a general anaesthetic to ensure that they have a support person stay with them for at least 24 hours following treatment to assist with recovery.

Things you can do to assist with recovery include rest and relax as much as possible, take all your prescribed medication on time to assist with pain relief, and follow your discharge advice exactly as described by your nurse and consultant/surgeon.

If you have any further inquiries regarding recovery from your surgery, please do not hesitate to call direct to your consultant/ surgeon. If they are unable to be reached please contact your GP.  In all other critical emergency situations, please call 111 for an ambulance or visit your nearest Accident & Emergency Department
