Specialist and Anaesthetist Visits
- The Specialist that performed your surgery and your anaesthetist will visit you daily and are contactable by nursing staff at all times of the day and night during your stay. If you have any problems or concerns regarding your surgery or health, please do not hesitate to ask your specialist or your nurse.
Medication
- If you are taking any medications, please ensure you have brought them all in with you to hospital in their original packaging. Please do not self administer or take any medications without first speaking with your nurse. This includes any herbal or natural remedies. This is for your comfort and safety as some medicines may interact with other medications that may be given to you during your stay in hospital following your surgery.
Pain and Nausea
- It is important to us for your comfort that following surgery, any pain and nausea you may have is well controlled. This will aid in your mobilisation and recovery. Please discuss ANY nausea or pain concerns with your specialist or your nurse even if you do not think these are related to your surgical wound.
Nurse Call Bell
- Your nurse will check on you regularly. If you require the assistance of a nurse at other times, please do not hesitate to use the nurse call bell. There is also a nurse call bell on the wall beside the toilet in
the ensuite bathroom and a pull cord nurse call bell in the shower cubicle.

This same handset is used to control the overhead light and the TV channel selection and volume.
