Visiting Hours

Visiting Hours are from Monday to Sunday - 11am to 8pm
  • The in-patient ward is located on Level 2 of Ormiston Hospital.
  • Visitors must please check in on arrival at the Nurses station reception in the centre of the ward.
  • Visitors may visit outside visiting hours at the discretion of the nursing staff.
  • If the main hospital entrance doors are locked, visitors please press the intercom button marked ‘WARD RECEPTION’, located to the right of the main entrance doors. A ward nurse will speak with you and remotely unlock the door for you.
  • Rest is important following surgery. If you would like more rest and to restrict the number of visitors and / or telephone calls to your room, please do not hesitate to speak with your nurse.
  • Boarder visitors are only permitted in special circumstances and with prior approval of the ward Charge Nurse. A cost is associated with boarders staying with patients.
  • Children are welcome as visitors. Ormiston Hospital kindly requests children visiting the ward are supervised at all times due to potential health and safety hazards within the hospital

Phone Calls and Computers

  • A telephone is available in your room for your convenience.
  • To make a call, dial 1 and then the number.
  • Calls from relative and friends can also be put straight through to your room from ward reception.
  • All local and toll calls will be charged to your room.
  • You are welcome to use your mobile phone and power points are available for phone rechargers.
  • Laptop computers are also welcome, with ports and sockets available in your room.


Valuables and Personal Effects

  • Ormiston Hospital is unable to take responsibility for the loss or damage to your valuables and personal effects. While every care is taken, we advise you to please leave all personal valuables at home or in the care of a family member or support person.


Your Rights

  • Pamphlets detailing your rights as a patient under the Health & Disability Act are available in the front of this compendium and at the nurse’s station.
  • Your rights are important to all Ormiston staff. Please do not hesitate to discuss any of the issues in these pamphlets with your nurse, Ward Charge Nurse or the Patient Services Manager.


Smokefree

  • Ormiston Hospital supports a totally smokefree environment. You must not smoke anywhere in the ward (including your room), the hospital building or directly outside the main hospital entrance.
