Discharge from Hospital
Discharge time from the ward is between 9 am and 10am once you are cleared by your Specialist.
Your nurse and your specialist will discuss with you any special
arrangements for your discharge home.
A nurse will escort you to the reception area and assist you to
your car if necessary.
Please ensure you have the following with you when you leave:
- Discharge information with your Specialists instructions and contact number.
- Prescription medicines (or prescription) if required.
- Follow up arrangements with your GP or Specialist.
- X-rays and all scans.
- Arrangements for necessary aids i.e. crutches, raised toilet seats etc.
Driving following surgery – An important reminder to you that operating a motor vehicle after surgery for the first 24 hours is not permitted following a general anaesthetic.

Hospital Account
Your hospital account is due to be paid in full at the time of your discharge. Please settle your account with the reception staff as you are leaving. Ormiston Hospital accept the following
methods of payment: cash; cheque; bank transfer; direct credit; Visa; Mastercard or American Express.
