| Professional highlights: |
· Performed thousands of cataract operations, making him one of the most
active cataract surgeons in New Zealand.
· One of the most highly trained retinal surgeons in the country,
who has successfully performed thousands of vitreoretinal operations.
· Carried out contracts from the Auckland District Health Board and the
Counties-Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) to perform hundreds of
cataract operations each year.
· Worked as a visiting eye care consultant to the Manukau SuperClinic™
(CMDHB), New Zealand's leading specialist out-patient facility.
· Involved in the ongoing teaching of optometrists.
· Pioneered same-day vitreoretinal surgery at Eye Institute with colleagues.
· Established, in conjunction with Eye Institute colleagues, new clinics on the
North Shore and in Manukau.
· Helped establish a cataract clinic in Fiji.
· Ran a retinal clinic for the South Auckland community dealing with diabetes
and blindness at the Manukau SuperClinic.

I love spending time with my wife Michele and our dogs who are truly the masters of the home. Any spare time is for the outdoors – waterskiing, running and skiing. People would be surprised to know that their surgeon was a former front-rower for Auckland and Waikato Provincial Rugby – his ultimate moment winning the Ranfurly Shield with Waikato! |
